The Holiday Season

Since I'm writing about the festivities this time of year brings, I will forgo my signature pink type for green. :)

Once Fall hits it seems like the next three months fly by. First, we have Fall celebrations. Oktoberfest, different city festivals, ummm, I'm sure other areas have more things but this is all I can recall around me. This year Oktoberfest was sweaty as we went in the first part of October and in the South, that means high temps with humidity and a high chance of glistening all over your body.

After October we have my favorite month, November. I will admit I am biased since this is the month I blessed my parents with my birth. Jesus has December, I have November. After all, can't have two royal members in the same month. And for heavens sake no, I am not comparing myself to Jesus. Unless his last name is Perez, then I think I'm safe to do so.

November brings us my birthday which I do celebrate for the whole month. Veterans Day, is there and then we have Thanksgiving. Today my little lamb Gigi and I, she is my beloved Frenchie, went shopping to Home Goods, which is dog friendly. The parking lot was full and the stores in that same shopping center were too. I walk into the store and people are everywhere. This is Monday, go away. Only us non business employed should be out and that's usually me and some blue hairs. Gigi had a blast because she gets loved on by shoppers and employees. Frenchie's are a very social breed and love to be loved plus they're cute which makes them irresistible. Naturally, Christmas stuff was everywhere on every aisle and several specified aisles. I was ok with that. I actually went to find a large glass vase for my beach sand and sea shells. I picked up some cute signs and socks. I mean who doesn't need new holiday socks every year?

So after we stuff ourselves with turkey, then the Christmas onslaught begins. Since I work for myself now, this year I decided to get back to my tradition of having all my shopping done by October. Other than stocking stuffers my two human beloveds are all set. Gigi gets presents almost daily so I just need to get her some stocking treats as well. I did buy Santa jammies for my grand dog. Not sure if her Dad will use them but there we are. I actually purchased them for G but they were way too big. I either get too big or too small, there is no happy medium for me. About the only time I get it right is when I purchase in a store vs online. I bought for my close friends online so they are all set as well. Can you smell the accomplishment?

Thanksgiving Day in my area brings Christmas parades and or the lighting of the downtown tree. I use to take my boys when they were wee little lads, but now that they are adults with real jobs, I don't. Sometimes I will take Gigi. Because, why not? She likes a good tree lighting or a parade where again, people will fawn over her. Such a ho bag for attention. :)

I hope this wonderful season brings all of you the fun, love, and attention you want. May your days be merry and bright and your heart stay full with love as we deal with idiots on the road or at the checkout line. Kiss Kiss Hug Hug.....

Dog Sitting

I have always had dogs growing up and in my adult life. When I met my ex husband, he had been raised on a farm in northern Minnesota (as in so close to Canada he could spit) and always had barn yard cats. I never had cats until I met him. I got him a rescue that he named Sambo, and yes, he was a black male with a rat looking tail. Sweetest baby though. We each had a Chow Chow while we were together and then over the years many a cat we enjoyed.  Nine lives my booty.

Anyhoo, as I realized that working in the corporate jungle was no longer good for my mental & physical health, I wondered what could I do to subsidize my income as I contemplated early retirement.  I spoke with many a friend and told them my dilemma and several asked "Well, what makes you happy? What do you enjoy?" and I always replied "I enjoy taking care of Stitch, maybe I could do that for others dogs."  And several months later I saw an ad for Rover.Com which I liken to UBER for people who need dog care. Since my first dog sitting in November 2017, I have had a pretty steady traffic in clients. Some dogs I really enjoy and others are more of a challenge to like. None have been nasty or aggressive, but since my beloved Gigi is a frenchie, she's small. I can put things on the table or the counter without issue. Not so much with most of the dogs I have been watching. Most are tall breeds, and again, all are super sweet and lovable it just took one big dog to teach me to put crap up. And by crap I mean dog food, my food, bread, candles you know.

I do really look forward to meeting the dogs and their pawrents. I have learned on this site that if they can afford the rates the company charges, these are spoiled pups like my G. I always send daily photos or videos because I would want the assurance my "baby" was doing well. Gigi is such an easy going gal and gets along with everyone, so bringing other dogs into her home is no big deal. She enjoys having friends come over and play and run outside with. If I have  her and another I will walk them. I found out trying to walk 4 dogs was a flipping nightmare and I'm sure my neighbors enjoyed watching me trying to wrangle a pack of two small dogs with two big dogs without falling on my arse. I will say that was a nice workout though. Lord, I think I got more exercise than they did. :)

As always Kiss Kiss Hug Hug and Woof Woof for all the doggies.

Confessions Of A Beloved Dog

Since Mummy always dresses me in mostly pink, I will use her signature color as well. In case you are wondering, yes, I Gigi Marie Buttercup do type. Mum just cut my nails so it's easier to do so. :)

Things you should know about my cray Mummy. She loves me to death, seriously people, like instead of calling DFACS, surely there is a department for OVERLOVED animals, right? After reviewing my Instagram account, um yes, I do have one, doesn't everyone? @gigi_the_frenchie_princess in case you were wondering. I have noticed that all us Frenchie pups have obsessed pawrents. I'm assuming it's because we are just so darn adorable.

Mum first came into my possession on a beautiful Saturday, May 1, 2015. I have been smothered every since. To say I am a spoiled baby would be an understatement but as my Grammie always says, "loving ain't spoling" so it must be true. Apparently, my Mum grew up in a household where all pets were treated as family. At least that's her excuse to me when she kisses me to death. Whatever, lady.

I have two human brothers that I see for weekly dinners. I can always tell when they are coming as Mum cooks up a full meal. She spoils them as well. But that's OK, that's what parents should do, or so I am told.

Occasionally, I get my boyfriend for the weekend or a week depending on his Dad's schedule. He is also a Frenchie and equally spoiled by Mum, much to his father's chagrin. (His Dad isn't as sweet as my Mum, just saying). I do adore bf's human brother though, he loves me and showers me with tons of attention when I see him too. Again, much to the contempt of his Dad. Mummy says we don't care what his Dad thinks because he's a....well I'm not allowed to curse so fill in the blanks. hee hee

Mum has been taking in other new friends when their pawrents go out of town. That's been fun because I have made a lot of new friends and some come back. Must be my winning personality that brings them back. Mum says it's my milkshake, whatever that is. Mummy is so odd sometimes but I do adore her and can't imagine my life without her. Unless I'm with my Aunt Susan and Uncle Frank. They treat me fabulously and may even give more attention than Mum does, if that's possible.

Bark Bark, snort snort, until Mummy lets me blog again. Hope everyone has a fantabulous weekend!

Death Of A Parent

April 11, 2012 felt the most pain I have ever endured in my life. And I had two C-sections. Six years ago tomorrow, I lost my father. I'm lucky in that I was there when he took his last breath. For that I will always be grateful. However, NO ONE can describe how great that pain, that emptiness is until it happens to you. I had lost both sets of grandparents and naively, I thought it would feel like that. I couldn't have been more wrong or stupid.

My father went in for what we thought, was a routine vein operation. I say "routine" because a few years earlier he had it on the other leg so we thought it would be no big deal for this leg. We were sadly wrong. We used to say my Dad had 9 lives like a cat. When I was a teen he stopped for cigarettes at a gas station and interrupted a burglary. He was shot in the finger but it bounced into his thigh. Because my Dad was a dancer by trade, his thigh was meatier than the average 40 year old. The bullet remained in his leg until his death. Like most kids, I thought my Dad was invincible. I mean, he survived being shot, nothing could bring him down, right? Wrong. A simple surgery took him. And I have never been the same since. Neither has my Mum and sibling. I no longer speak with either, but I know it was a hard loss for all of us.

April 10, 2012, my Mum called me and told me to get to Chattanooga, where they lived. The nurses in hospice had told my nurse Mum, this was it. He wouldn't be with us for much longer. I had just been there the weekend before celebrating Easter. I was able to speak with him and tell him how I felt. By the time I got there that Monday afternoon, my Mum needed to rest. We told her to go and we would stay with Dad for the evening. My sibling popped in her Ipod and we played Dad's favorite songs and retold our favorite stories we remembered. Since I'm 10 years older, I had more. But being 10 years older didn't make it easier when he did leave us. We talked to him, told him it was OK, we would take care of Mum and he could let go and be in peace.

April 11, 2012, around 4am the nurses called. His breathing was 'thready', it wouldn't be long. We all raced to dress and drive the 10 minutes to the hospice facility. We knew what was coming but none of us could fathom the grief or pain that was imminent, at least for me. Around 7am ish, my sibling thought it was going to be another false alarm and ran back to the house to get her laptop so she could do some work while we waited. While she was gone, he took his last breath. Me on his right side, Mum on his left. When the nurse proclaimed him gone, I let out this guttural scream and wondered who it was. I didn't realize it was me. I had never cried or screamed so loud before this. Probably because I had never felt this heart wrenching pain and overwhelming loss before this date. I wish this horror on no one. EVER.

Even though we all die, holding a person's hand while he passes is beyond painful however, I wouldn't trade being there for anything. I am thankful I was there when he said good bye. He may have been gone for 6 years but he is always with me and I talk to him all the time. In hindsight, I wish I had been a better daughter and made more of an effort to spend time with him. That is my curse to carry. I know he understood and has forgiven me. One day, I will forgive myself.

Hug Hug Kiss Kiss. Life is short. Make it count. For your own sanity.

Depression Is.....

Not having the energy to do anything

Not wanting to be around anyone

Not wanting to talk to anyone

Not wanting to feel anything

Not wanting to show anyone how sad you are

Not wanting to tell anyofne how "meh"  you feel

Not wanting to bother anyone with your "I don't know why I feel this way" talk

Not wanting to get out of bed....ever....or off the couch

Not wanting to deal with bills

Not wanting to be...(in severe cases) thankfully I'm not that blah

Depression is something that only people who suffer from it can understand. My friends don't get why I don't want to go to work but I may feel like shopping. Well, shopping is an escape from reality whereas working is not. Going to work is full on dealing with everything and depressed people don't want to do that. To be honest, you don't feel like doing anything even shopping sometimes.

I have a doctor appointment tomorrow and I'm hoping he has answers. A few years ago we thought it was a hormone imbalance because after he gave me the pills for that, I felt "fixed". But here we are four years later and I'm back to blah mode. I don't like blah mode. I feel bad for my beloved dog because she loves going for walks. When I feel like this, the thought of putting shoes on, getting her harness and leash on just seem so overwhelming, too much work. So we don't go. She snuggles on my lap while I watch tv. Really productive I know, but it's about all I can muster.

And listen, I don't blog about this for attention, I really abhor any form of that, unless it's my birthday and I'm all about cake. I have a great group of friends who would come over and try to "cheer me up". But again, depression isn't a break up with a guy, or a loss of any kind. You can't bring over wine and cake and cheer someone up. It doesn't work that way......but as always, I will be ok. Maybe it is time for some anti-depressants. As we age our bodies change and what used to work doesn't anymore. And that's ok, I'm going to be ok. I'm not going to harm myself, I couldn't do that to my kids. I lost my Dad almost 6 years ago and I'm still devastated. Which now that I say that, I always feel lost around this time of year. From February to his death April 11, I'm not myself.

As always thank you for reading and listening. I blog to share my feelings in ways I normally wouldn't. It's easier to write down feelings than to look someone in the eye or on the phone and tell them how sad you are. I don't anyone to reach out and ask if they can do anything but honestly, there isn't. I know my friends are there for me if I should want to reach out. All my peeps are fantastic that way.

Kiss Kiss Hug Hug. Life is short, make sure you enjoy what time you have left. :)

New Year And New Hopes...

Why is it every new year people ask what your resolutions are? Just because we embark on a brand new shiny January 1st, what makes that date different than say today? If we want to achieve certain goals or attain new attitudes there's no reason why we can't do that every new day, right?

According to the law of Google (honestly, how we ever existed without that reference just blows my mind) Babylonians started the tradition some 4,000 years ago but they didn't start in January but Mid-March when the crops were planted. They made promises to their God to return stolen items and pay their debt. That's actually great karma to start the year off with. A clean slate if you will. The Romans were said to pray to their god Janus, which is where January got it's name from. See, entertainment AND a history lesson all in one blog. You're welcome kids!

I gave up making resolutions years ago just like I gave up dieting. Let's face it, it's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change. I have wobbled on the up and down weight scale like 90% of people and I know what to eat and what not to eat. But let's face it, sometimes Lays potato chips just taste so good. I also know you have to change up your routine with food and exercise to keep your body guessing so it doesn't become stagnate and anticipate thus no matter how good you eat, the weight doesn't move.

Being fluffy used to really get me down but as I've aged into the 900's, it no longer affects my mood. My favorite pair of jeans might not fit today but I know that I can get back into them when I want to. To me, their are more important things than being skinny. Healthy eating really does show up in your body and skin. I have done the "HCG" program and that is clean eating plus a boost daily. Clean eating does detox your body and I encourage anyone to eat that plan. It takes a few weeks to get used to your routine of no carbs, starches and some fruits/vegetables, but I always feel so much better. Take care of your insides and your outside will reflect it. Especially as you age. Your body has been working overtime and you want to feed it high octane fuel not regular unleaded. :)

In closing I say this as I always seem to end my blogs. Life is short, really short. Do what makes you happy, take care of yourself and your beloveds. Because it really does go by in a blink of an eye. Who knew our parents and grandparents were so smart? Well I did, because they were the best.

Hugs hugs, kiss kiss and may all of your dreams, resolutions and goals come true for each of you.

My Birthday Month Is The Best Month EVER

I love the month of November and I don't think it's because it's my birth month. November really brings fall to the area I live in. I'm in the south and I grew up really south in Florida. Now to be clear, I do not consider Florida as the old school south. When I hear that I think Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Louisiana. They have southern accents whereas in Florida most people sounded northern because they fled the north for the warmer climate.

Growing up in south FL, I really didn't see a whole lot of temperature change until December/January. Then it was in the 40-50's and lord knows I needed a jacket then. I still need a jacket for those days, who am I kidding? I live in the Atlanta area and we get four proper seasons, at least in the foliage sense. The leaves start turning in late October but they really finish in November.

Last year for Thanksgiving I was wearing shorts and a tank top while I was cooking dinner and turned the air conditioning on. I guess we can blame Global Warming. All reports I've seen this year have said we were going to have another  warmer winter than usual. I want some snow please. Not blizzard weather but some nice powdering, not too much as most people freak out over here and can't drive. Well, if I'm completely honest, most people can't drive year round but alert them of snow or ice and good lord, it's a catastrophe. :)

As I was saying my birth month is the best. November also gets you primed for the holidays. We have Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Election Day, Thanksgiving, Black Friday and now Cyber Monday.

Hope all of you have the bestest holiday month. Remember life is short so be nice and think outside the normal box. :)

But I can't do that...

When I was little I had this fantasy that I would be happily married with 2.5 kids, a dog and I would travel the world with my husband. And then.....reality hit. I was happily married and we did travel but not so much once the kids came along, only 2, I don't know where the .5 one went. :)

I had a pretty good childhood, adored my Dad had issues with my Mum occasionally, but I knew they were there and they loved me. After almost 10 years of bliss with me they decided to bring another child to our household. I wasn't super excited to welcome another but no one asked me until it was too late. She was supposed to be the boy Dad wanted, I was always supposed to be a girl. That tells you all you need to know about life after that child was born. hahahhaha...Anyhoo, we all adapted blah blah blah.

Once my now ex husband came into the picture my relationship with my Mum changed. Both are manipulative and think they are always right so dinners were always a good time with me in the middle. I have him on one side complaining that I didn't stick up for him and her on the other side telling me I needed to take up for the family. Once you marry and have kids the family dynamic you grew up with now changes to "your family" being your spouse and kids and the parents were now another subset of the family. No longer your core family. My marriage had issues and some were generated by my Mum. I would dread having to go to my parents house because I knew what would happen. It got to be so stressful that I started making excuses as to why we couldn't come up. At the time we lived about 2 hours away so they were close enough yet far enough away. While I may have had my problems with Mum she was and is the most amazing grandmother. I was lucky with her parents but my kids really hit the lotto with her. She has always been there for every event, birthday, holiday, surgery etc. They really have no complaints and I don't believe they do. Now the fun part starts.

Five and half years ago my beloved Dad passed. In the past when I had arguments with the sibling or Mum he was the one who would come to me and ask me to "fix this" because it was hard on him. After time I would acquiesce. I haven't spoken to my sibling in 4 years now and then because she would lie to me or tell the sibling my business, I haven't spoken to my Mum since January. Recently she was in the hospital to put a pacemaker in and now she's having kidney issues. My kids, understandably, are a wreck. My ex's parents were older and by the time he had my boys they were either passed or my kids were too young to remember meeting them. My parents are all my kids have had and now they only have their grandmother. I get that. I recall how devastated I was when I lost my maternal grandmother and then maternal grandfather 6 months later. My kids are lucky in that I lost mine at 16 and they still have my Mum and they are 20 and 24. I call that a win in my book.

My youngest is "appalled" at me that I don't speak with my "family" and he finds me "childish". Now, at the time this went down I told my oldest exactly what had transpired but not the youngest since I felt he was young and I didn't really want to skew his view of his grandmother. I reached out to both my sons last week as I was feeling some distance was being created. My oldest says he's good but he wishes I would reconnect with them and my youngest, well you see the quoted words.

I have had depression issues for years but didn't realize that's what it was until a few years ago. Last week I was in a depression spiral, but thanks to hormones I wasn't suicidal. I'm still struggling to get back to "me" but this issue with my sons hasn't helped that. Unlike others, I cannot just go and slap on a smile and pretend all is well, that's not me,  that's never been me and here we are.

I finally get what Meat Loaf was saying when he sang "But I can't do that" from "Two out of Three" one of my all time fave songs.

As always kids, be kind, be happy and remove yourself from anything that doesn't help you achieve those goals. Kiss Kiss Hug Hug

People's Actions Tell Us Everything

I don't know about you, but initially, when you meet people they put on their best face. Some never waiver from that while others show us their truth within a few months or even years.

About fourish years ago I met someone that I knew but never "knew". For a few months it was almost fairy tale behavior to the point that I believed this was who he truly was. Silly me. As he later told me, he has many sides. And quite honestly, it was my fault for not believing him. Because he had shown me the good I would refuse to comprehend that the other "sides" were the real person. Obviously, we never want to see the bad in people, at least I don't. I really try and focus on seeing the good in everything and everyone, especially if I have put trust in you.

When I first meet someone I can tell instantly whether I like them or not. Some I've had to be around more but this person, I told things on a first meeting that people I've know for 20 years didn't know. That's not generally the girl I am. I felt connected to him and he told me things that I didn't think everyone knew either, I could be wrong. When it came to him I was very naïve and saw with blinders. And that's ok, you want to see the positive in people even if it's fake. We need to believe everyone can and will be good until they aren't. But this is where I went very wrong, when I saw the other sides, I didn't walk away then.

Our relationship changed from the initial one but I always told myself there was that good part and that's where I was foolish. Over the years I had seen other things that I was shocked or dismayed by but I still tried to believe it wasn't the real him. Unfortunately, I was very ignorant in that thinking. This past year has shown me that the person I initially met cannot last because that façade cannot be sustained for a long period of time. I take full responsibility and when we would have conversations and he would say "I told you..." I should have really taken that to heart, not just think he was fabricating. When some things are shined with a spot light though, then you have to "see". The universe has had enough of me seeing him with rose colored glasses. Even if I thought I was seeing correctly.

I am not innocent in my actions towards him over this period of time either. I have run my mouth and said things that should have stayed silent but I was hurt and I tend to lash out. I've learned if I want to spew I need to keep it very close to the vest. Making comments about another doesn't put me in a glowing light and that's not the person I strive to be. So if people have either a "lesson, a lifetime or a reason" for being in your life I learned many lessons. But it's ok, no one died, and I'm in a good place with myself.

Until we meet again, hugs hugs kiss kiss and remember life is too short to waste it on people or things that don't make you happy or question yourself. Love yourself more than you do others. It's not selfish.

Aging...Or Not

I can tell you that I never thought as I was growing up, I would become such a vain person with regards to aging. Now mind you, I never grew up saying I was ok with looking like the crypt keeper but I don't think I gave it a second thought either. My Mum was never focused on her looks, that I ever saw. I mean she always wore make up and dressed nicely but she wasn't obsessed about her looks in my formative years. It wasn't until I was in my teens and we moved to Chattanooga that I heard "are you wearing that?" or "aren't you going to put make up on?" comments. Growing up in FL we didn't really put make up on, at least I never had to. I was kissed by the suns glow, yes, I really did just say that and yes, I really did believe that, so I wore mascara and lip gloss and out I went. That was my make up ritual. If I tried to put on my Bonnie Bell blush I looked like a flipping clown because my cheeks were already rosy from the heat. It was hard to be me back in my teens. But don't get too jealous, my hair was probably 3 feet wide from the humidity so I wasn't all sexiness, don't you fret. I wasn't completely hideous but I wasn't my besties either. Anyhoo, I'm getting off track....

Now that I'm in my Jurassic period of age, I would definitely do more nip/tuck if I could afford it. And botox is my friend, however, he hasn't been in almost a year. But that's ok, he will be again shortly. I have an interview at the Claremont in the next week or so, keep your fingers crossed peeps. Gigi needs a passport so we can travel. hahahahhaha. Have adorable frenchie, will travel. :)

In conclusion, age really is nothing but a number, I firmly believe this. When I do tell people my age they think I'm lying. I promise you I would not age myself for kicks. I used to lie about my age when I first turned 40. I had such a hard time with that year. Turning 900 really didn't faze me, I couldn't even tell you why, but it didn't. So there we are. As long as you don't feel your age and you are doing fun things that you enjoy and hanging with people that make you laugh, and entertain you on all levels, who cares how old you are? I mean really, does it matter? I say not. If it matters to others you don't need them around. They don't deserve your time, your attention or your fabulousness.

Until we meet again, hug hug, kiss kiss. Life is short, be kind, it matters.

Dating Tips I've Learned....

Sometimes things we think we know we really don't know and then we freak and panic and wonder what to do. Lucky for me I have people to bounce my horrible texting ideas to and sometimes I listen and more often than not, I do what I want. LOL. Let's see if I can assist others in not making some crucial mistakes, shall we?

1. No matter how excited you get don't show your complete joy. You can show happiness without peeing on yourself like a puppy.

2. If you send a text, wait for an answer before you submit another text. You don't want to bombard someone with multiple texts making you appear as if you have nothing else going on in your life and now you come off as a stalker or stalker to be.

3. DO NOT and I cannot stress this one enough, if you have gone out with a person and it was a pleasant experience but you don't know how the other person is feeling, don't ask what they wear to bed, or to the pool or what kind of underwear they sport. It was one date, you have more time to get there. As a woman all I see is you are thinking nothing but sex and if I was even remotely wanting to go out with you a second time, you just killed it.

4. If someone tells you their natural color is red, don't immediately look at their roots. Bad form and you just lost their interest. And for heaven's sake do not ask them if their 'curtains match their rug'. OMG.

5. If you are digging someone, doesn't matter if they are male or female but they tell you not to fall for them because they will break your heart LISTEN TO THEM. They know themselves and aren't trying to make themselves sound like a catch. RUN FORREST RUN. Now, if you feel you have already fallen and feel like you might as well sleep with them, then go right ahead. At least get a good story and life is short. You never know when you'll get laid again. :)

Kiss Kiss Hug Hug and much love to you all. Remember, today is all we have, make it a day you enjoy!

Proud Mummy Moment

This past Sunday, which was Easter, my beloved sons came over and joined me for lunch. After they left, I mowed the yard, one of my favorite outdoor hobbies. Really, I love mowing the yard, maybe the other stuff not so much, but I like knowing how much exercise you are getting, relatively fresh air, and I always have a sense of accomplishment when I'm done because you see immediate results.

Now, this was not my first time mowing the yard but after I tell you what I did, you may question that. I noticed the area where the bag would be attached had grass in it and I was thinking, "OK, the blade is at the top so I can lift the window and not be near the blade", I was sadly mistaken. However, thankfully the grass gods were watching out, more likely my Dad, and all I did was cut my middle finger and really gashed my ring finger. The glove I was wearing didn't fare as well.

Naturally, I freak and started saying over and over again "oh my god, oh my god" rushing into the house to put it under water and get a towel. As I removed the glove I saw my fingers were still attached and it was just a really deep cut on the right ring finger. Now the panic of stopping the bleeding commenced. I get that taken care of all the while feeling dizzy and trying to call my Dr's office to see if I needed to come in or just wrap it up. As I'm on  hold, yes hold, I look over at my beloved puppy Gigi, who is quite clueless and useless if I'm being honest, because she can't dial or talk to the nurse. Anyhoo, the nurse instructs me to head on in. Great!, now I have to call my son to drive me, not playing favorites but in my head I'm thinking "OK, eldest has to be at work tomorrow at 4am, so he's a no, guess it's my baby beloved on deck." As any parent knows you try and stay strong for your kids, and mine haven't really seen me cry unless some d*ck broke my heart. They didn't even see me cry when my Dad passed, I did that in private. I call B2 and tell him I need a ride to the Dr and start bawling. You can imagine the horror on his face when he arrived.

He takes me to the ER and was perfect! He held my purse, spoke with the Dr asking pertinent questions I would have had I been thinking clearly. He held my hand while they stitched me up. I got a whooping 5. The Dr's reasoning was to "keep the flap pad attached" yes, quite disgusting and it looks even worse. Obviously, this guy was out sick during the Plastic Surgery rotation. But as I keep telling others, it could have been worse, I could have lost 2 fingers or more and I don't care that it's going to leave a scar because its on the bottom of my finger and I'm not a hand model. :)

Kiss Kiss Hug Hug and make today the best you can even if you think its a bad day, you are still breathing and living among the somewhat alive people.

Spring? Is that you?

If you grew up in southern Florida like I did, you had two seasons, Hot and Hotter. But when my parental units relocated us to such cities as Pittsburgh, where we saw snow, and then to Chattanooga where the big excitement for my senior year of summer, was watching a VW bug blow up, and then me moving to California southern and northern, thank you very much, I've experienced all four seasons. Who knew?

In Florida you knew it was cold when you were dodging death on the roads from the "snow birds". My Mum was particularly annoyed with Michigan drivers. She would come home daily and complain how they are trying to kill her. hahahahahah.

When my baby daddy and I wanted to be closer to my parents, we chose Atlanta as being close but far enough away. Chattavega is around a two hour drive so it was very convenient for weekends and even a day trip for the occasional birthday. When we were moved to Chattanooga, my allergies were not happy. In FL I would just get the annual January cold, not realizing that those were allergies. TN had a whole new set of "WTF" is in the air today weather. I would say Chattanooga's summers were equal to if not greater in humidity and heat as FL. As least living near the beach we had the breeze whereas in Chattanooga it's in a bowl and it never moved. Disgusting is how I like to term it.

When I moved to the San Fran area of Cali, it was truly gorgeous. It was cool at night even in the summer, which you never experienced growing up in southern FL. However, all those years of seeing the "California Beaches" was misrepresented, in my opinion. The water looked like lake water and it was flipping freezing.  Part of the reason people who did escape Alcatraz never made it to shore was due to the frigid temps. I mean, lawd, it was chilly willy. Then we decide to venture down south to Pasadena and I'm thinking "Yippy! Hollywood, Beverly Hills, stars, me, what's not to love?" Uh, again, the water was cold. I took friends in the middle of August, to Malibu, I believe we dipped our toes in it and went to the restaurant and ate after that. Disheartening to me.

Here is beautiful Atlanta we get a true Summer, Spring, Fall and Winter. However, this year our Winter has been more Spring like. The other day I'm getting a sunburn and wearing shorts and tee and this week I'm back in my sweaters and fleece. Go figure. I feel sorry for the poor birds and trees that had started to bloom. Almost like Mother Nature is sitting there going "PSYCHE".. hee hee

Hope everyone has a fabulous Winter/Spring weekend. I know I will. Kiss Kiss, Hug Hug.

Zingers My Kids Throw (So proud)

If you have kids, you know the amount of sarcasm they can attain if you and or several of your family are sarcastic, witty people. When I was growing up if you didn't throw one back you were bait. So over the years of having my boys, who are now 24 and 19, they are quite the amusing couple together. I thought I would compile a list of some personal bests, if you will.

1.  My oldest son hasn't purchased a Mother's Day gift in years. If he doesn't say his brother's gift is his what I get is this "You don't need a gift, you have me." Oh touché my love. I don't think that would work at Cmas time but I feel you.

2. I like to tell them both how I was gutted like a fish to give them life. In later years they have come back with facial expressions that I find hilarious, and now have added comments like "we didn't ask to be gutted" or "you brought us here". The youngest one Spencer usually will add "Mom please, can you not?" hahahahh more fuel for my story fire.

3. I had a recent convo about them socializing more and getting out and dating. Since the oldest, Skyler, just turned 24 I said "when I was your age I was engaged to your Dad for 5 years" and Spencer pipes up, "Wow, and you two are still going strong aren't ya? How'd that turn out for you again Mom?" We divorced 18 years ago, so at this point I just gave my "f*ck you" stare.

4. I was dating this guy and after they got over laughing at me they started in with the following: "Is his name Edward and does he tan by the moon?" "I can't believe you are dating a vampire, does he drink your blood?" "Does this make you a groupie?" and my personal fave, "Does he sing to you when you are alone?" Dude is very pale and sings.

Leave it to the children I gave birth to, and raised to call a sista out. I mean dayum. They are brutal sometimes but all jokes really are done in fun. And in my family, that's how we rolled. My Dad did it to me, and I do it to my friends and peeps and now they do it as well. The Circle of Life people.

Hope all have a very humorous weekend and remember to enjoy the moment, it may be your last!

Drunk Texting....Ugh

Is this EVER a good idea? I mean, good lord. I had done really well for about a year, and then I went and celebrated National Margarita Day last night and had a margarita and that went out the window. There is a reason I don't do liquor. I'm ok if I don't have any thoughts brewing in my head, (a recent convo with someone, or a comment that was made that stuck in my claw) but if I have kept the offense to myself and have a cocktail, all bets are off kids.

I am mindful not to call names or anything like that, but I was told that I like to "poke the bear" which loosely translates to one person as, calling them out. I don't let people get away with a behavior or their ego. I will bring you back down to reality if you start thinking you are too good for things or that you are better than a situation. Not in a mean way but just in my normal sarcastic tone.

I see posts on Facebook where people talk about putting an app on their phone so they have to give a password or enter a puzzle before they are allowed to submit a text. I highly believe that's a fantastic idea. I'm sure it would save tons of embarrassment, hurt feelings, or fights.

In closing I leave you with this. Drunk texting is bad, hiding your phone when you have been drinking, is good. Or giving your phone to a friend so you won't tempt yourself to "maybe send a little note". ABORT ABORT!!!!

As always, thanks for reading and kiss kiss hug hug. And tell someone you like something about them today. Stranger or friend, it will make their day, I guarantee it. :)

Done, Finished, Peace Out Cub Scout...

One thing I have realized in my 900+ years roaming this earth, yes I am a dinosaur. Once I'm done with you, the situation, the job, the family etc, I AM DONE. Meaning, I wish you no ill will, I just no longer do anything for you, I no longer care anything about you, I no longer try to be nice to you, I DO NOTHING FOR YOU, well, unless you want to pay me, then the money ho kicks in and I will. But now it's a complete business transaction and if you fell off the face of the earth, I will not ask why or let my insecurities lead me to a path of  "did something happen" because I won't care enough to get there.

I will put up with a lot when I care about you, but once I feel you have been knowingly disrespectful, or hateful or lied about me, I first get so pissed off that if you were standing in front of me I would beat your arse and then I wake up the next day with a calm that you are no longer worthy of my time, of my presence or of my thoughts. You can just fade away never to be heard from again and I won't even think twice about it.

Here's the thing with people in our lives, they all have a reason to be there but for how long is determined by us. Believe you me, I have been kicked to the curb through out the years, but I've also been the kicker. This is why I have a hard time trusting anyone initially. Some have slipped past my radar but once I see you for your true self, I may hangout but never open up again. And I am not the type to listen to chatter, I judge you by how you treat me, however if you run your mouth about others, I know it can happen to me. And I'm not talking about you sharing events that happened between you and another I'm referring to you just saying unpleasant things about a "friend". Puhlease, I don't need "friends" like that in my life. I can talk shiz about myself, I don't need your help.

In closing, I leave you with this. Life really is too short, some have shorter than others, so be kind, be thoughtful, be true. At least when you leave this life you can go knowing you did the best you could with being a good person, an honest person and then hopefully, karma won't bite you in the arse in your next life, if you get so lucky.

Kiss Kiss Hug Hug, and as always, thank you for reading. Now go out and have a positive filled day. :)

Tis The Season....

To be loaded.....just kidding or am I? I know this time of year may make some of us partake a little more in the adult beverages but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I mean I know in the past I needed wine or many beers to deal with certain family members or people without having 911 called. Anyone else feel like that?

Another thing with this time of year is depression is higher and along with that is suicidal thought increase. Thankfully, I've dealt with being depressed but not around this time of year and no suicidal thoughts ever crossed my mind in the November-January months. But if you don't have a family or any family around you, or you feel really alone, your mind may wander to "ending it all" and I completely understand that rationale. To those of you who have never battled depression I know you are reading this thinking I'm clearly off my rocker and sometimes I am, but not on this subject. I always ask my single friends over to spend the holidays with me and my sons and now my precious Frenchie Gigi. (meep) One of these days I need to insert her picture so you all get just how flippin adorable she and her boyfriend Stitch are. Until then, Google French Bulldogs and those that are tan with white markings is what she looks like and he has the tan and black colors like a Pug, only he's way more cuter. But I could be a tad biased, one never knows. :)

This time of year is also where people look inward and do their self reflections of "What have I accomplished this year"? or "Where am I going"? Both are interesting and looming questions but you have to be careful with this. If you are not in your healthy state of mind, this could lead you down a lonely, self destructive path, and we don't want that. I really do try and stay positive and I thank the universe daily, for all I have and all I still want to happen or materialize. As long as you feel in your "gut" that you are on the right trail for you and your life, keep doing it. Remember, YOU CREATE YOUR OWN LIFE. Yes, other people are factors, however, your destiny and your decision are yours and yours alone. If you don't like your job, try to find another that makes you happy. If you don't like your marriage or relationship, do both of you a favor and get the hell out. Trust me, it does make a difference. And please, please, don't be the person that stays for the kids, bc I can tell you as a kid who heard that, we feel the dissension, unhappiness, bitterness etc. You aren't doing yourself or the kids any favors. I know that's why I chose to end my marriage. I wasn't going to be 60 years old and completely miserable in my life. If you are discontented, it does trickle down. Something to ponder folks.

So I leave you with this. When you are out shopping, talking, walking the dogs, smile at someone you meet. It does make a difference and you never know, it could save their life as well as your own.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday's, Happy Chanukah, and Happy Kwanza. Until we meet again, Kiss Kiss, Hug Hug.

Being Thankful....

Almost everyone is thankful for something around this time of year. I am thankful for everything I have and manifestations I want all year round. I love the  Thanksgiving season. One reason is my birthday is only a few days from it depending on the year,  either before or after and every 7 years on it. Those are my favorite ones because if I don't want to cook, I don't have to. I usually do unless a friend is kind enough to invite me and my beloved's over. Now that my son's are 19 and 23, I am sure they will start participating in the prepping of this holiday as both enjoy cooking too.

This year I have so many wonderful things to be grateful for. First and foremost are my beloved son's. Both were well planned bundles of joy. And I prayed every day to be graced with both pregnancies. I loved being pregnant and even being gutted like a fish, to give them life. (they LOVE when I say that, oh by the way)....2016 brought another year with my sweet, loving, giving, affectionate French Bulldog Gigi and even more nanny time with my sweet baby boy Frenchie, Stitch. That breed really is the cutest of breeds and everyone loves them. When I take them out or even just Gigi, people run over to them, or coo, just like when you see babies. That's the power this breed has on people. I was blessed with meeting new friends, growing deeper attachments to current friends and some friends just bowed out gracefully. All have been good for both of us, I'm sure.

Since I got divorced, I try to be the friend who contacts others and makes sure they are ok, or reach out to try and have quality time with them. I've noticed that when I pull back from initiating meet ups, some just fall away. And that's ok. People have new friends, new relationships, jobs etc, to cultivate and take care of. I'm ok with just backing away and letting them go. If they want to hang out, they know how to reach me. :)

I am thrilled to celebrate Thanksgiving with my my sons, the two 'bullies' and three girlfriends this year. I have pulled out the Spode china and glassware, went shopping for the menu and of course, jug of wine and the pumpkin pie. DVD's will be brought into the living room for viewing if others would like to watch. I have all the Christmas staples: Elf, Christmas Vacation, The Ref, The Grinch cartoon and live action, naturally, I have the Alistar Sims's version of The Christmas Carol, my personal fave,  The Holiday, Love Actually, purr Hugh and Colin, and we also have The Christmas Story and Scrooged as well. I am looking forward to some sarcasm and laughs and chocolate and candy and of course wine, did I say that already? LOL

So CHEERS! To you all and I hope you have a very happy Thanksgiving and for heaven's sake, be safe if you venture out and shop with the Black Friday people. Oy!

Kiss Kiss Hug Hug, until we blog again.

Delusion or Positive Thinking...that is the question

When do you get to the point of asking yourself,  "Am I being delusional, or is it just taking longer?" Say you have an image of what your life should be and you put that positive thought out in the universe daily, maybe even several times a day, and it hasn't happened yet. When is it time to refocus your image? Obviously, it takes longer than a day, week or even a month, but if it's been a year or 2 years, should you give up?

I was rereading "The Secret" and there was a passage about how some people are so close to their manifestation but they have doubt because it was taking so long and the universe said "OK, you don't want it." And it never came to fruition. Anytime I have a doubt I throw it right out with a positive reply. (yes, I do talk to myself and we have lovely conversations, thank you)

If my feeling of an outcome is strong, I refuse to give it up but again I come back to "Am I delusional?" Of course my bestie Holly, would never say "yes, you are a total nut job, let it go" but it does make me wonder. Now her husband on the other hand, thinks I am completely bonkers, but he just doesn't appreciate the wonder and amazement that is me. LOL. At least that's my take. :)

In closing I just want to say this to you all. If you have a dream about your future, and you feel strongly about this outcome, never give up. Just make sure this manifestation you are creating isn't anything harmful to you or another. That is totally bad Karma and I wholeheartedly believe in Karma. Thus why I may complain about idiot co workers, I do say prayers for them nightly. I don't wish them harm, I just want them to mind their own biznass and focus on work, is that asking too much? Apparently, it is. But not everyone was raised with work ethic or a conscience. I was lucky enough to have been.

Hope all of you have a Happy Halloween and lovely rest of your fall. Till we meet again, hug hug, kiss kiss. Muah....

Idiots Are Everywhere

Ok, that may seem harsh, but who among us has never had interactions with them? Like ever? Exactly, no one. Even the Pope and the Dalai Lama have idiots around them. Oy!

I remember when common sense was a given not a luxury. What happened? What bred all these dumbarses? I have two beloved sons and they are 18 & 23. They have brains, common sense, initiative, and morals. Why don't the people I come in contact with? I'm not just saying young people. I'm talking about old as yo momma and young as my kids.

It really bewilders me when co workers come and ask me a question, that WE ALL SHOULD KNOW and ask it as if it was brand new to them. I know my face has a total look of "are you f*cking kidding me" on it. Because that's what I'm usually thinking as they ask it. They start it off and I start thinking "ohhhh nooo, I know where this is going. You CANNOT be serious" and alas they are. Maybe it's because as you age we all hear about losing memory's or forgetting things but come on, if this is part of your day to day job, I think a person could recall that without asking.

Look, I have my numerous shares of "blonde moments" but half the time I either didn't hear it correctly or I wasn't thinking along those lines. I completely admit to being very naïve even though I can be a hardened beyotch. But this is a whole other world of stupid. This is "how do you drive yourself home" stupid questions.

No other place like traffic to make you believe we are all doomed on this Earth. I have lived in many different states and it doesn't matter where I drive, traffic has it's shares of Forrest Gump drivers. My one friend had to commute on 3 different freeways and how she didn't kill herself or another is beyond me. Her favorite phrase was "these people are too stupid to live". Amen Missy, A to the Men. :)

In closing, people are getting more dumb with every passing day. It's either in the water, the drugs, the air or someone is injecting dumbarse fluid while they sleep. But I do try to stay positive, work is very difficult to stay in that zone, however, I  take deep breaths, look at my picture of my Dad, my first dog Tammy and me in our first house in FL and think, it's going to be ok. I will be ok. And remember Alana, you would not do well in prison, there are no tiara's. Gasp! The horror!

Until we meet again, hug hug kiss kiss and most of all thank you for reading.
